Hey Everyone!
I am SO excited about this post.
Sweetcheeks and I went to Soda Springs, ID last weekend.
We had a great time hanging out with my parents, my sister, and her little one.
We also celebrated my twenty-something birthday.
Randomly, a family friend was visiting Sunday evening and he asked me if I was still pursuing a photography business.
I told him I am absolutely still doing photography and how much I love it.
He then proceeded to invite me up in his private plane to take pictures of beautiful Soda Springs!
I was thrilled!! My father and I met up with him at the airport the next morning. I was excited/nervous/anxious/elated...I know that's a lot of emotions but I was feeling all of them.
Oh, one tiny little detail......did I tell you that he took off the door where I was sitting? Ya, he
TOOK OFF THE DOOR WHERE I WAS SITTING!!!
This was my first time flying in a small plane and I was gonna do it without a door.
Scary.
OH. MY. WORD.
What an awesome experience!!
I've always thought Soda Springs was beautiful but seeing it from the sky gave me such a different perspective (obviously). Seeing the ENTIRE valley just blew my mind. I felt so proud to call this magnificent place "home". To see this place that God created for us to enjoy was overwhelming.
It was a photographic challenge to make the pictures interesting and artistic. I didn't want them to look like just another landscape snapshot. I don't consider myself a landscape photographer...not by a long shot. This was a great experience for me to push my own artistic and creative limits. Something I always look forward to doing.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pictures. Just remember this is unlike ANYTHING I have ever done...so my pictures don't exactly scream National Geographic (although this is the second time I have felt like I could be shooting something for that magazine...see here for the first). I mean, they're close to National Geographic exotic-ness....but I don't think I'll submit them this time :)
I love this small town of mine and I am so happy I had the opportunity to see it in all of its glory!
Thanks Rodger!!
Shoot ya Later :)
